About the Treatment and How It Works
We use the Excel V+ laser system with the CoolView handpiece, a medical-grade device trusted by dermatologists worldwide. It works by delivering targeted green laser energy (532 nm) into pigmented lesions, where it's absorbed by excess melanin. The heat causes the pigment to break down and be naturally cleared by the body over time.
EXCEL V+ BEFORE AND AFTER

Sun spots and solar lentigines
Caused by long-term sun exposure.
Freckles
Light-to-dark spots often intensified by UV rays.
Age spots
Pigment accumulation as part of natural ageing.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Dark marks left after acne or injury.
Uneven skin tone
General blotchiness or pigment clusters on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
What laser is used for pigmentation treatment?
We use the Excel V+ with the CoolView handpiece, a safe, effective, and TGA-approved device for treating pigmentation and vascular concerns.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients describe the sensation as a mild snap or warmth, similar to a quick rubber band flick. It’s very tolerable, and cooling is used to enhance comfort.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically, 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart are recommended, but results may vary depending on skin type and depth of pigment.
Is there downtime after the treatment?
You may experience mild redness, darkening of pigment, or slight flaking for a few days as the skin renews. Makeup can usually be worn the next day.
What areas can be treated?
Laser for pigmentation is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, and hands—anywhere sun damage or pigment appears.
Can it treat melasma?
Melasma is complex and often requires a tailored approach. While Excel V+ may help, we’ll assess your skin first and may combine treatments or recommend alternatives.
Will the pigment come back?
Treated pigment typically fades significantly or disappears, but ongoing sun protection is essential to prevent new spots from forming.
Is this treatment suitable for all skin types?
Lighter to medium skin tones respond best, but suitability depends on the pigment concern. A skin consultation will determine the best approach.
Can I combine this with other treatments?
Yes! Pigment lasers can be combined with skin needling, peels, or PRP for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
How soon will I see results?
You may notice an initial darkening of pigment, followed by fading over 7–14 days. Full results continue to improve over several weeks.
